About This Tour

Kenya, nestled in the heart of East Africa, is a nation teeming with diversity and charm, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and exuberant culture. The bustling metropolis of Nairobi stands as its capital and most populous city. Surrounded by the nations of Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia, Kenya emerged as a sovereign state in 1963, casting off the shackles of British colonial dominion.

The country boasts considerable economic promise within the region, propelled by its robust agricultural sector, burgeoning manufacturing industry, and an emergent technological landscape. Acclaimed for its genial hospitality, Kenya's storied past is a tapestry woven from threads of ancient societies, the impact of colonial rule, and the fervent quest for autonomy.

Kenya's allure as a travel destination is rooted in its historical and cultural wealth, mirrored in its myriad attractions. The historical sites of Nairobi and Mombasa whisper tales of yesteryears, while the idyllic shores of Lamu and Diani Beach beckon with their unspoiled beauty, offering a haven for every traveler.

Among the unique attractions Kenya offers are:

- The Samburu National Reserve, a sanctuary for distinctive wildlife and home to the majestic Ewaso Ng’iro River, set amidst dramatic vistas

- Nairobi National Park, an urban oasis where the wilds of Africa meet the city's skyline.

- Diani Beach, a slice of coastal heaven boasting immaculate white sands and translucent waters, an ideal locale for aquatic adventures and serene repose.

- Hell’s Gate National Park, a geological marvel with its fumaroles, hot springs, and imposing cliffs, which served as an inspiration for the iconic Disney film “The Lion King.”

- Lake Naivasha, a serene freshwater expanse fringed by verdant woodlands, abuzz with a rich variety of birds, alongside hippos and giraffes.

- The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a nurturing ground for orphaned elephants and rhinos, providing an inspiring and enlightening encounter.

- The Giraffe Centre, where visitors can engage with the rare Rothschild’s giraffes in an intimate setting.

- The Karen Blixen Museum, once the residence of the renowned Danish writer, now a window into her life and literary contributions in Kenya.

- Another chance to mingle with giraffes awaits at the Nairobi Giraffe Centre.

- The marine sanctuaries of Malindi and Watamu, paradises for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, teeming with vibrant marine life.

Kenya's tapestry of natural wonders, wildlife sanctuaries, and cultural heritage sites makes it a microcosm of African splendor, inviting explorers to immerse themselves in its rich tapestry of life.

Things To Consider When Travlling To Kenya

CURRENCY - The Kenyan Shilling, abbreviated as KES, stands as the official currency of Kenya.

PASSPORT & VISA - Nigerian citizens should have passports valid for a minimum of six months past their planned date of exit from Kenya. A visa is mandatory for entry into Kenya, which can be obtained from the Kenyan Embassy or Consulate General in Nigeria with the necessary documentation. The Kenyan authorities may ask for proof of a return journey and adequate funds for the duration of the visit.

For a Kenyan visa, Nigerian applicants must submit:

- A completed visa application form

- A passport-sized photograph

- Travel itinerary evidence

- Accommodation confirmation

- Financial sufficiency proof

- Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate

It's important to note that these are the standard requirements for Nigerians applying for a Kenyan visa. Requirements can differ based on nationality and visa category. Additionally, these guidelines are subject to modifications in line with government policies. For the most recent information, please contact us directly.

SAFETY - Kenya is considered relatively safe for travelers, yet it's important to exercise caution. It's advisable to keep valuables out of sight, remain vigilant in busy places, and heed the guidance provided by local authorities on safety matters.

TIME - Kenya is situated in the East Africa Time Zone, which is three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+3).

LANGUAGE - In Kenya, the official languages are Swahili and English. A large number of Kenyans are bilingual, speaking both languages, which facilitates communication for visitors. English is used in government, business, and higher education, as well as by many media outlets and tourist sites. The ability of many Kenyans to speak both Swahili and English eases the interaction between locals and travellers. Additionally, some Kenyans are proficient in other languages, including Kiswahili, Luo, Luhya, and Maasai.

CLIMATE - Kenya’s climate exhibits fascinating diversity across its regions. Let’s delve into the specifics:

  1. Coastal Areas:
    • Along the coast, Kenya experiences a hot and humid climate year-round. The coastal zone (Zone 1 on the map) enjoys warm temperatures, with averages in the 80s Fahrenheit.
    • The long rains season here occurs later than in the rest of Kenya, running from April to June, with May being the wettest month.
    • The best months for coastal visits are August and September. During this period, the weather is cooler, sunnier, and relatively dry, with occasional short showers followed by sunshine.
  2. Highland Areas:
    • In the highland regions (Zone 2 on the map), which include places like Nairobi, Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo, Eldoret, Nakuru, Mount Kenya, and Kisumu, the climate is temperate.
    • Average temperatures range between the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit. Nairobi, the capital city, falls in this subtropical highland climate zone.
    • The coolest months in these areas are July and August.
  3. Northern and Eastern Arid Zone:
    • The northern and eastern parts of Kenya (Zone 3 on the map) have a hot and dry climate.
    • Rainfall is scarce, with annual amounts dropping below 500 mm (20 inches).
    • The prevailing winds play a significant role in determining the climate. From October to March, hot and originally dry winds from Arabia (known as “kaskazi”) dominate. From April to September, cooler and wetter winds (called “Kuzi”) blow in from the Indian Ocean.
    • Rainfall occurs mainly in the form of afternoon or evening downpours or thunderstorms. However, the rains can be quite irregular.
    • During El Niño years or when the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is positive, heavy rainfall can lead to widespread flooding.

Best Time to Visit:

  • For beach holidays, the ideal time is during the dry season, which spans from November to April.
  • If you’re planning wildlife safaris, opt for the dry season from June to October.

Remember, Kenya’s climate offers something for everyone, whether you’re seeking pristine beaches or thrilling wildlife encounters!
